Hey — It’s Dean.
Welcome to the 141st consecutive edition of the newsletter.
Each week I share mindset secrets from remarkable people plus those I have uncovered that have helped me transform my body, business and life.
Here are the five I uncovered this week.
Please steal shamelessly.

On a personal note…
I’m writing this while visiting my parents in Sudbury, Ontario (about 5 hours North of Toronto.)
My father sold his house last Sunday, but it came with a 3 week closing date, so I have extended my stay to the end of May to help him purge the unnecessary and pack the essential.
It’s been fun for me (I’m great at helping others simplify and declutter their life) but super stressful for him.
But as the clutter decreases so too have his stress levels.

1/ On owning less stuff.
Details worth knowing.
Alex is one of the best rock climbers in the world. He rose to world wide prominence in 2017 when he became the first person to free solo (no ropes) El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. The subsequent documentary about that climb won an Oscar in 2019.
Principle at play.
Consumerism comes at a cost. The more we have, the more it demands of our attention, energy and financial and emotional resources.
Question worth pondering.
What’s something you could sell, donate or trash that would free up significant resources to focus on those things that matter most?
ðŸ§
Mindset worth stealing → What I own, owns me.
2/ On the value of self-education.
Details worth knowing.
Not only is formal education outrageously expensive, it’s horribly flawed. It teaches people what to learn rather than how to learn. As a result, it’s mass-producing employees rather than entrepreneurs.
Principle at play.
Learning how to learn is one of the most powerful and profitable skills we can invest in.
Questions worth pondering.
What is a skill you would like to learn that could help you increase what you earn?
🧠Mindset worth stealing → Learn how to learn so you can learn how to earn.
3/ On handling hard better.
Details worth knowing.
Kara is the head coach of the Duke Blue Devils women’s basketball team. She went viral with this inspirational message to her team on handling hard stuff well.
Principle at play.
Most people think life is going to get easier. It doesn’t. But if we do life right, we become really good at handling hard stuff exceptionally well.
Questions worth pondering.
What’s one area of life where you are really good at handling hard stuff well? What’s one where you are not?
🧠Mindset worth stealing → Become really good at handling hard stuff well.
4/ On fear.
Details worth knowing.
Morgan writes about investing, but his ideas apply to all aspects of life. You can subscribe to his blog here and his podcast here.
Principle at play.
Behaviour and the emotions of others are contagious. That’s why smokers hang with smokers, whiners hang with whiners, and unhealthy people hang with unhealthy people.
Questions worth pondering.
When is the last time you reacted emotionally to someone who first reacted emotionally to you? What do you think might happen if you were able to remain calm, cool and collected the next time someone loses their sh*t?
ðŸ§
Mindset worth stealing → Behaviours and emotions are contagious so be careful who you surround yourself with.
5/ On self-improvement.
Details worth knowing.
Carol is a friend, a former weight loss client and a remarkable teacher and educational consultant. She shared those incredibly wise words on one of our coaching calls.
Principle at play.
What Carol captured is the secret to continuous self-improvement.
Questions worth pondering.
Do you have a daily practice for reviewing your day to uncover what went well, what didn’t, and how you will improve to make tomorrow a bit better?
ðŸ§
Mindset worth stealing → Get really good at getting better.
That is all for today.
See you next Sunday my friend.
And hey — keep being awesome.
