Welcome to the 151st consecutive edition of the newsletter.
Here are this week’s five ideas to help you transform your body, work and life.
1/ Speaking for success.
Stop saying “Can’t!” Say “Don’t” instead.
🔥 Why this matters → Can’t suggests we’re trying to do something we don’t believe we can do. Don’t suggests we’re coming from a place of empowerment and permanence.
🧪 What the science says → Studies show that saying "I don't" instead of “I can’t” can double your ability to avoid temptation and stick to your goals.
🎬 My take → Change can’ts to don’ts.
❌ I can’t eat sugar. ✅ I don’t eat sugar.
2/ Words of wisdom.
🔎 Between the lines → We live in a world of instant gratification. People want results without doing the work.
🎬 My take → Great rewards come to those who teach themselves to fall in love with practice.
3/ A simple food logging tip.
I use MyFitnessPal (MFP) to log all my meals. I have a database of over 1500 days.
🔥 Why this matters → When I am planning for the next day, I never start from a blank slate. I copy a previous day.
Here’s how👇
1️⃣ Go to a day you want to copy and click “Edit” on the top left.
2️⃣ Click “Select all.”
3️⃣ Click “Copy” at the bottom left.
4️⃣ Select “Same Meal(s) | Tomorrow” option.
5️⃣ Tweak as necessary.
4/ A visual to ponder.
This is an MRI of 3 people. The light outer layer is fat. The dark inner layer is muscle.
🔥 Why this matters → There is virtually no difference between the 40 year old triathlete and the 74 year old triathlete. But conventional wisdom tells us that we are supposed to get fatter as we get older. What’s up?
🎬 My take → A highly successful body does not care about your age. It responds to anyone who invests in the right behaviours — proper training, nutrition, sleep, and hydration.
5/ Training without equipment.
When I travel, I don’t have access to equipment. So how do I do my 30 pull ups each day? I have to use what the environment provides.
In this case, I used tbe storage container my mom has in the basement of her apartment complex.
🔥 Why this matters → Our ability to train is not limited by equipment. It is only limited by our imagination.
🎬 My take → When you see training as an act of creativity, you will always be able to have a great workout no matter where your feet are.
