PS. What makes me different? I AM MY CREDENTIALS. I am the proof that my ideas work. And I have accomplished this at an age -55- when people think such things are not possible.
OK! Let’s go make magic happen my friend!
ONE.
The law of awareness.
You cannot solve a problem you don't know you have.
When it comes to weight loss success, many struggle because they don't realize they have problems they have yet to see. I call this BEHAVIOUR BLINDNESS. We are completely oblivious to the vital behaviours that drive our success. For instance, I always I struggled with my weight because I thought I had a diet and exercise issue. What I came to discover through deep thinking on the matter was that I had a behaviour management issue. I didn't know how to successfully manage the behaviours I adopted. By uncovering a problem I never knew I had, I was able to create a management protocol that is now paramount to my success.
TWO.
The law of measurement.
What gets measured gets managed. What gets managed gets mastered.
There is an interesting bugaboo in our hardwiring that arises when we attempt to access our own behaviours in the absence of data. We suck at it! I call this BEHAVIOUR ARROGANCE. We think we are far more proficient at a behaviour than we actually are. We think are better decision makers than we actually are. We think we are better drivers than we actually are. We think we eat less than we actually do. We think we eat less often than we actually do. And what is the antidote to behaviour arrogance? Becoming a data nerd.
THREE.
The law of cause and effect.
When you remove the cause you remove the effect.
People violate this rule all the time because they suffer from BEHAVIOUR MYOPIA. Their timelines for success are way way way too short. People focus on doing behaviours for days (ie. 7, 14, or 30) rather than for years and decades. And they do that because they don't realize that the moment you stop doing a behaviour is the moment you stop getting the result you desire.
FOUR.
The law of sustainability.
Extreme behaviours are not sustainable long term.
People are drawn to extreme solutions because they offer the allusion of a big payoffs. There is only one problem. Extreme behaviours (what I call BEHAVIOUR HYSTERIA) burn us out, which makes them impossible to do long-term. And if you can't do them long term then you are violating the law of cause and effect. A little trick I use to get around this is to find the minimum I need to do to get the maximum return on investment, and then do it for days, then weeks, then months and finally years and decades.
FIVE.
The law of consistency.
Enduring problems cannot be solved with erratic behaviours.
This is the most common mistake people make on their journey to success in any domain...they are chronically inconsistent with the vital behaviours that they know drive success. The might do something 2 times one week, 5 times the next, zero times the week after that and then wonder why they can't create permanent lasting change. That's why I only adopt behaviours I can do every single day. For example, I workout everyday, but only for 10 minutes. But that's 10 minutes everyday for the past 737 days. By compounding consistency, I have created extraordinary results that have transformed my body, my health and the impact of aging.
Well my friend, that is it for this edition. Remember that knowledge is useless until we turn it into action. When we turn it into action, we allow for wisdom to happen.
To becoming unrecognizable,
Dean.
